My name is Josh Katz, the author of Space Dork. I've always been a fan of science fiction books. It was one of the things my now wife and I bonded over when we first started dating. After meeting on the internet we exchanged our favorite books. Then one day I told her about a story idea that had been in my head for many years. One thing led to another and soon I was writing chapter after chapter.... over the course of many months... years... fighting writers block and over all laziness. She is my biggest supporter and I am so thankful for her for pushing me to write.
I am originally from outside of New York City and grew up on the south side of Chicago. Throughout my life I have struggled with insomia. This meant when I was young, I would often find myself watching Star Trek and a growing collection of scifi and fantasy movies. I am a highschool dropout. After suffering through minimum wage jobs I desired more. That led me to the Army and eventually to UIC to study electrical engineering. Now I work as an engineer and I get to spend my evenings nerding out with my wife and daughter.
